Niranjan Ramamurthy

Niranjan manages the web development, search engine optimization (SEO), and search engine marketing (SEM) for the Suicide Prevention India Foundation (SPIF). As an engineer rather than a mental health professional, his contributions are strictly technical—operating quietly behind the scenes to ensure the platform remains fast, accessible, and reliably online for those seeking help.

Day Job & Background

Outside of his volunteer hours with SPIF, Niranjan runs Adostrophe, a digital agency based in Bangalore. The agency specializes in providing Matterport 3D virtual tour scanning services in India, creating digital twins of large physical spaces. The rest of his time is spent building clean, functional websites and web applications.

Search Operations & Website

Drawing on his past experience in search marketing at Yahoo (where he first met SPIF's founder, Nelson), Niranjan initially helped set up SPIF’s Google for Nonprofits Ad Grants. The objective is straightforward: ensure that anyone searching for crisis support online is directed immediately to official, verified helplines.

Later, he took on the redevelopment of the SPIF website, moving it off a heavy legacy CMS onto a lightweight HTML, CSS, and JavaScript architecture hosted on Azure Static Web Apps. The goal was to ensure the platform loads instantly, even on slow mobile networks.

Data & Photography

When he contributes written content to the site, it focuses entirely on data. Using Python to parse public health registries, he formats verifiable statistics into readable resources, leaving all clinical interpretation to the experts.

Outside of work, he contributes high-resolution photography to Wikimedia and publishes Google Street View panoramas as a Local Guide, where his photos have quietly accumulated over 50 million views.
